The provincial government has announced plans to introduce a new design for licence plates, with a theme of "Strong and Free" starting in 2026.
According to the government, this theme echoes the province's Latin motto and reflects "Alberta's bold identity, economic strength and deep-rooted provincial pride."
The motto's inclusion on the licence plates will also serve as a nod to Canada's national anthem and Alberta's position as a strong and sovereign province within a united Canada.
Residents can vote online for their preferred design among eight unique options, which incorporate the province's landscape and history, until November 15.
The current licence plate design has remained unchanged since 1984.
