A Nigerian man described his experience of being deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in September.
He and other detainees were woken up in the middle of the night, shackled, and told they were being sent to Ghana, despite none of them being from there.
When they requested to speak to their attorney, the officers refused and used full-body restraint suits called the WRAP, also referred to as "the burrito" or "the bag".
“It was just like a kidnapping,”
said the Nigerian man, who is part of a federal lawsuit, in an interview from the detainment camp in Ghana.
The use of such restraints has raised concerns over inhumane treatment during deportations.
