The UK's state-of-the-art polar research vessel, RRS Sir David Attenborough, is set to embark on a mission to Antarctica to support various climate change-related science projects.
Operated by the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), the vessel will aid research on topics such as underwater tsunamis, glacier melt, and whale populations.
"The saying goes 'what happens in Antarctica doesn't stay in Antarctica',"
BAS oceanographer Peter Davis expressed regret over the US withdrawal from scientific exploration in the region, calling it "a shame".
