The demand for caregiving benefits has become a pressing issue, particularly for working women who are "sandwiched" between caring for their children and parents.
Experts suggest that HR leaders can offer flexibility and special paid leave to support these employees. According to an October 2025 report, only 30% of employers provide family caregiver leave, often with less than three weeks of pay.
"The constant pull between work, childcare and eldercare can be overwhelming for the sandwich generation, especially women,"
said Maria Trapenasso, head of Human Capital Solutions at NFP. As a result, workers are increasingly using their PTO for caregiving demands.
