The Cleveland Guardians have re-signed catcher Austin Hedges to a one-year, $4 million contract that includes $500,000 in incentives.
Of the 790 players to receive at least 2,500 PA in the Wild Card Era, Austin Hedges' 52 OPS+ is the 2nd-worst, ahead of only Jeff Mathis (48).
This is the third straight one-year contract for Hedges, who has never been a good hitter and is unlikely to change at this point in his career.
Austin Hedges' contract renewal sparks concerns about offense.
