Knoll’s ‘Biboni’ sofa is inspired by 1970s icons and the Michelin Man

Knoll's 'Biboni' Sofa: A Blend of 1970s Icons and Michelin Man Inspiration

Architects Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee designed the 'Biboni' sofa for Knoll, drawing inspiration from 1970s design icons, Bibendum, and macaroni.

Their design process involved brainstorming names, eventually merging 'Bibendum' and 'Macaroni' to create 'Biboni'. The sofa collection features curves that envelop the body and a frame that appears to float.

The "Biboni" has a chubbiness that feels welcoming and informal. It also has the precision and purity of a centrepiece in a room.

The 'Biboni' collection includes two-, three-, and four-seaters, as well as sectionals with chaise options, defined by its bold curves and floating frame.

Author's summary: Knoll's 'Biboni' sofa combines 1970s icons and Michelin Man inspiration.
