Data Center Power Demand in Virginia
Data center power demand is increasing, with one hyper-scale data center requiring as much power as 2 million homes. Virginia currently has approximately 3.6 million homes.
A recent tour of a new hyper-scale power solution manufacturing facility in Henrico County highlighted the significant power demands of data centers in the near future.

Both of Virginia's gubernatorial candidates acknowledge the Commonwealth's economic future is linked to data center demand, but they have different ideas on how to power it.
At the opening of a new expansion of Hyper Solutions in Henrico County, Governor Glenn Youngkin received a tour from company co-founder Dennis Strieter, who showcased a large black box with a screen, delivering 1.3 million watts, equivalent to about 2 thousand homes worth of power to computer servers.
