President Dallin H. Oaks Announced as 18th President of the Church
President Dallin H. Oaks was announced as the 18th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a live broadcast.
In his first public address, President Oaks named President Henry B. Eyring as his first counselor and President D. Todd Christofferson as his second counselor.
I accept with humility the responsibility that God has placed upon me and commit my whole heart and soul to the service to which I have been called.
President Oaks bore testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ, after an extended period of fasting and prayer.
