Widespread Flooding in Nassau
Heavy rain over the weekend caused widespread flooding in New Providence, disrupting daily life and leaving several communities underwater.
Roads were turned into rivers, with severe flooding reported in areas such as Bel Air Estates, Carmichael Road, Tonique Williams-Darling Highway, and West Bay Street, according to Housing Minister Keith Bell.
"We have flooding in every area of New Providence after that tremendous amount of rainfall we had,"
Videos on social media showed vehicles struggling and water surging through neighborhoods as drains overflowed and major roads became impassable.
- Drainage pumps and pump trucks will be deployed as soon as weather conditions permit, said the Ministry of Works and Family Island Affairs.
