Cork City Relegated to First Division
Cork City's third Premier Division relegation in six seasons was confirmed after a defeat to Shelbourne.
Despite having a 10-day rest, Cork City put in a flat performance, while Shelbourne's Kerr McInroy had a dominant game. Daniel Kelly scored within three minutes, giving Shelbourne the lead.
Seani Maguire gave Cork City a late lifeline, but Jack Henry-Francis sealed the win for Shelbourne with an 88th-minute goal, pushing them back into the European places.
The last time Cork City safely completed a season in the top tier was 2019. Their only hope for a silver lining in 2025 is the FAI Cup final.
It took the visitors just two-and-a-half minutes to go ahead.
