The Charleston County Planning Commission has narrowly approved a rezoning application for Storybook Farm, a family-owned horse farm on Johns Island, to build 100 townhomes.
The farm, spanning 10.86 acres, is currently zoned Low-Density Residential. This is not the first attempt at rezoning, as an initial request in April 2025 was unanimously disapproved due to density, height, and affordable housing concerns.
"This came before you this year, and it was denied because it was too dense, too tall, not enough affordable housing,"
said Joseph Tecklenburg, representing the owners, who believes the new plan addresses these issues.
