In South Dakota, it is still Native American Day, a declaration made by the governor's office over 30 years ago.
The recent change of the national holiday by President Trump has been met with frustration. "We're celebrating today regardless of what anybody is saying,"

"Very non-controversial, frankly, but some people would say it's controversial,"
said President Trump.
"We're calling it Columbus Day. Yes."
