Man Sues Harrison County Over Fatal Motorcycle Chase
A man is suing Harrison County for a 2023 motorcycle chase that resulted in his brother's death.
Trevor Moore, administrator of Bryan Howard's estate, has filed a lawsuit against the Harrison County Commission, former Sheriff Robert Matheny, and two unnamed deputies.
According to the lawsuit, 27-year-old Bryan Howard died after being thrown from his motorcycle during a high-speed pursuit on October 16, 2023.
- The pursuit was initiated after Howard failed to stop at a stop sign in Clarksburg.
- Deputies allegedly chased Howard at speeds over 115 mph on narrow, dark roads for approximately five minutes.
- During the chase, Howard nearly struck a deer and almost lost control of his motorcycle, despite the clear danger.
