McDonald’s Australia and Wieden+Kennedy Sydney unveil a summer campaign featuring the Grinch, aiming to spoil Australia’s Christmas spirit but ultimately brightening the season. Following a successful debut in Canada, the Grinch Meal platform arrives nationwide in Australia from 19 November.
The campaign centers on Aussie families on holiday, with the Grinch determined to ruin their summer. His schemes backfire, enhancing the festive mood instead of dimming it.
The best summer days end at Macca’s. The Grinch’s antics highlight the contrast between his disruption and the joy of Australian summer celebrations.
Directed by Jesse James McElroy, the campaign features a cinematic film titled “I’m Ruinin’ It,” paying homage to Dr. Seuss’ classic, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!”
In the film, the Grinch spies on the people of Australiaville enjoying their sunny holiday season, planning to ruin the summer – starting with McDonald’s.
As the story concludes, the Grinch twists McDonald’s iconic jingle to, “I’m ruinin’ it. ba–da–ba–ba–DUM,” presenting an adult meal he believes fans will not enjoy.
The Grinch Meal platform is available at McDonald’s restaurants across Australia starting 19 November.
Australian families embrace summer joy as the Grinch’s schemes backfire, strengthening the festive mood and linking Macca’s to seasonal happiness.
