MEXICO CITY (AP) — Jalen Duren scored a career-high 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Dallas Mavericks 122-110 on Saturday night. Cade Cunningham contributed 21 points and a career-best 18 assists to help secure the victory.
The Mavericks held a 93-87 lead after three quarters but were outscored 35-17 in the final period. Dallas played without forward Anthony Davis, who is expected to miss two games due to a left leg injury suffered on Wednesday against Indiana.
“I just wanted to get the win, coach had a great game plan and my teammates found me and the rest is history,” said Duren.
“It is cool, super cool, the coaching staff put me in great position, and my teammates helped me, to do it out here was cool,” said Cunningham. “The win is important, we are continuing to grow and it is important to represent the Pistons organization, we wanted to make sure to handle our business.”
The Pistons secured their second consecutive win with strong individual efforts and a solid fourth-quarter surge, overcoming the Mavericks’ lead despite missing a key player.
