Saoirse Ronan has been cast as Linda (Eastman) McCartney in the highly anticipated project The Beatles - A Four-Film Cinematic Event. Born in New York and raised in Co Carlow, Ronan will portray the celebrated photographer who met Paul McCartney in 1967.
"Linda Eastman (Saoirse Ronan) was a celebrated photographer when she met Paul McCartney in 1967. There was an instant attraction and McCartney later said, 'The first time I saw her, I just knew’."
Ronan, a four-time Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner, stars opposite fellow Irish Academy Award nominee Paul Mescal, who plays Paul McCartney. The two previously co-starred in the sci-fi thriller Foe. While they knew each other "in passing" before, Ronan describes their relationship now as "genuine friends."
Joining Ronan and Mescal, Barry Keoghan—another young Irish Academy Award nominee—has been cast as Ringo Starr in the Beatles film series.
These details were confirmed by Sony Pictures alongside Ronan's casting announcement.
This film project promises a compelling portrayal of the Beatles' legacy through fresh, acclaimed Irish talent.
