Former Baltimore Mayors Honored with Portrait Unveiling

On November 1, the Rotunda of Baltimore City Hall was filled with pride and reflection as four former mayors—Sheila Dixon, Stephanie Rawlings Blake, Catherine Pugh, and Bernard “Jack” Young—joined current Mayor Brandon M. Scott to unveil their official portraits.

The event, held in Baltimore’s ornate marble rotunda, gathered family, friends, elected officials, and guests for a celebration of the city's leadership and legacy.

Mayor Scott Highlights Historic Significance

Mayor Brandon M. Scott opened the ceremony by acknowledging its importance. The last mayoral portrait to be unveiled was that of Mayor Martin O’Malley.

“Tonight, we’re adding to that lineage with portraits that reflect the true diversity, talent and leadership that define our city,” said Scott.

Faces of Leadership Portrait Competition

The new portraits are a result of Baltimore’s Faces of Leadership portrait competition, which received over 180 submissions from regional artists. A panel of arts professionals conducted a blind review to select 17 finalists.

Each former mayor personally chose the artist to paint their official portrait, ensuring a unique representation of their leadership.
