FireDrone Secures €161K from Venture Kick for Heat-Resistant Drones

Swiss startup FireDrone has received €161,000 (CHF 150,000) from Venture Kick to advance its development of heat-resistant drones designed for extreme environments. These drones aim to improve safety in emergency response and industrial inspection by operating where traditional drones fail.

Addressing High-Risk Environments

Firefighters and industrial safety teams face dangers such as toxic smoke, unstable structures, and intense heat when working in burning buildings or industrial furnaces. Conventional drones struggle in these conditions, limiting real-time awareness crucial for safety and decision-making.

Innovative Heat-Resistant Drone Technology

As a spin-off of Empa, FireDrone develops autonomous drones capable of withstanding temperatures around 200°C. The drones incorporate thermal insulation and cooling technologies to enable real-time hazard detection where standard systems cannot operate effectively.

Key Benefits and Applications

Target Markets

FireDrone primarily targets high-temperature industrial inspections and public safety operations. Initial markets include cement, steel, aluminum, waste-to-energy, fertilizer, and glass industries, along with first responders requiring drone use in heat- and smoke-heavy scenarios.

FireDrone is “developing heat-resistant autonomous drones designed to withstand temperatures of around 200°C and provide real-time hazard detection in environments where standard systems are ineffective.”

Author's summary: FireDrone’s cutting-edge heat-resistant drones offer crucial safety improvements for emergency responders and industrial inspections in extreme temperature environments worldwide.
