Kevin Durant was taken aback after discovering the true value of his priciest trading card. The Houston Rockets star first guessed that it might be worth around $112,000, but the real figure left him speechless.
“The record sale price was $780,000,” Durant was informed during the video.
The card in question, a 2007–08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Rookie Card, sold in 2021 for $780,000. It includes Durant’s autograph and a piece of his game-worn jersey from his debut season with the Seattle SuperSonics.
Given Durant’s remarkable career — two NBA championships, two Finals MVP honors, and a league MVP award — it’s no surprise his memorabilia commands such high prices. Now in his first season with Houston, he has started strong, posting averages of 27.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 52.2% from the field, 36.8% from three, and 84.6% from the free-throw line through four games.
Durant’s shock at the $780,000 value of his rookie card underscores his enduring legacy and continued dominance both on the court and in collectors’ markets.
