Tim Ballard, founder and former CEO of Operation Underground Railroad, stated he has been defamed and excommunicated as part of what he calls a “conspiracy” involving members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). He shared these remarks in a video posted on Instagram late Wednesday night.
In the video, filmed at a desk accompanied by soft piano music, Ballard begins by clarifying that he and his wife, Katherine Ballard, are not divorcing. He then holds up a document titled “Tim and Katherine Ballard vs. the Deep Church,” saying their case will be presented “to every outlet, every podcast around the world.”
“Deep State? Children are literally being beaten and bloodied by ISIS and traffickers because of the lies,”
Ballard described his excommunication as a “false excommunication,” claiming that he was denied due process. He also asserted that the LDS Church issued a statement in September 2023 condemning him to prevent his potential run for the U.S. Senate representing Utah.
The Church statement reportedly referenced Ballard’s “betrayal” of a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and called his actions “morally unacceptable.” Ballard is now demanding a full retraction of that statement.
Tim Ballard accuses LDS Church leaders of defamation and wrongful excommunication, alleging political motives behind his public condemnation in 2023.
