Nine Entertainment has initiated job reductions in its Streaming and Broadcast division, impacting around 50 positions. Senior on-air and production personnel are among those affected as part of a broader cost-saving strategy.
The first wave of layoffs includes key staff across multiple markets, signaling a significant restructure within the network's streaming and broadcast operations.
“I reckon the biggest story in Adelaide right now is the way poor old Kate Collins has been treated by Channel 9,” said FIVEAA's David Penberthy on air. “I mean treated by Channel 9 nationally. It’s a classic example of the head office in Sydney treating us like you-know-what and as a result there’s one fewer South Aussie on our TV screens.”
Penberthy criticised the manner in which the cut was handled but recognized the commercial challenges facing television in 2025.
Nine Entertainment’s restructuring reflects the increasing financial pressures on traditional and streaming media, leading to significant job cuts among experienced staff.
