Thailand has launched a national drone delivery pilot in Bangkok, marking a significant step toward developing a nationwide drone infrastructure. The large-scale demonstration showcased aerial deliveries across the capital.
The initiative, titled “The New Era of Drone Delivery,” was organized by Thailand’s National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), and High Lander Aviation, a global leader in unmanned traffic management (UTM) systems.
The collaboration between NT and High Lander highlighted how coordinated UTM technology can ensure safe drone operations in dense urban areas. High Lander’s Vega UTM platform was integrated with NT’s advanced 5G network, providing real-time visibility, flight coordination, and safety management for all drones involved.
Through this system, operators could monitor telemetry live, receive automated flight authorizations, and autonomously avoid airspace conflicts, demonstrating the potential of unified drone management in busy environments.
During the event, dozens of drone deliveries were successfully completed, transporting medical, agricultural, and consumer products across Bangkok.
“CAAT’s role is to regulate aviation safety and promote the advancement of the aviation industry. Supporting innovation and technological development in unmanned aircraft and related systems is a key part of our mission,” said Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the CAAT.
The Bangkok drone delivery pilot showcases Thailand’s strategic commitment to integrating drone technology with advanced 5G systems for safer, more efficient logistics nationwide.
