Greater Dandenong City Council was honoured for its dedicated efforts in sustainability by winning the 2025 Cities Litter Award at the 43rd Annual Keep Australia Beautiful Victoria Tidy Towns & Cities Sustainability Awards.
The awards recognise environmental accomplishments and celebrate strong community spirit throughout Victoria. They highlight initiatives that empower communities, shift behaviours, protect the environment, reduce waste, involve youth and Indigenous groups, and build resilience.
The Council’s Waste Services team earned recognition for their “Bin It or Take It Home With You” campaign, focused on educating residents about responsible litter disposal and emphasizing its environmental consequences.
“This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our Waste Services Team, not just for this project, but for the work they do every day,” said Council Executive Director City Futures, Sanjay Manivasagasivam. “We’re proud to lead initiatives that make our city cleaner."
