Wirral will observe a moment of silence this Remembrance Sunday as residents come together to honour those who have fallen, with services held across the borough on Sunday, 9 November.
The Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Brian Kenny, will lead the Civic Service beginning at 10:55 AM at the Cenotaph in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead. A two-minute silence will be held at 11:00 AM, followed by the traditional Service of Remembrance conducted by Reverend Paul Bentley, Vicar of Birkenhead Priory Parish and Rural Dean of Birkenhead.
The Mayor will lay a wreath on behalf of the people of Wirral at the Cenotaph, with Deputy Lieutenant Sue Higginson OBE DL laying another on behalf of His Majesty The King. Following them will be representatives from Wirral Council, the armed forces, various organisations, and relatives of servicemen lost in recent conflicts.
At the service's conclusion, the Mayor and Deputy Lieutenant will take the salute during a march past led by the 107 Field Squadron, Royal Engineers.
After the parade departs Hamilton Square, the public will have the chance to place their own tributes at the Cenotaph.
