The low-cost carrier Jetstar announced a new route starting in March, connecting Sunshine Coast to Bali and then Singapore.
Jetstar’s service will operate from Sunshine Coast, Australia's tenth-busiest airport by passenger traffic, covering 3,308 nautical miles (6,126 km) each way. Flights will run three times weekly on the 232-seat Airbus A321LR aircraft, known for its high capacity and low seat-mile costs.
Bali holds a special place for Australian travelers, similar to Cancun for Americans and Malaga for Europeans.
"Such leakage data is unavailable. What is clear is that Jetstar will very easily grow demand from its new service."
The new route is supported by significant financial incentives and will begin on March 24.
Booking data for Sunshine Coast to Bali and Singapore remains minimal, mainly because most travelers currently drive to Brisbane for nonstop flights. Jetstar’s introduction of this service aims to capture and grow this latent demand.
"I recently examined Air Astana's very long A321LR-operated flights to London Heathrow."
This move reflects Jetstar's strategy to expand via creative solutions underpinned by financial support, using Airbus A321LRs to enable longer-range routes at efficient costs.
Author’s summary: Jetstar’s new Sunshine Coast–Bali–Singapore route leverages financial incentives and efficient aircraft to open long-haul travel opportunities, tapping unmet demand outside Australia’s main cities.
