Chris Plys Ready for U.S. Olympic Curling Team Trials

Two-time Olympian and third for John Shuster, Chris Plys, feels quietly confident as his team prepares for the U.S. Olympic Curling Team Trials. The event will determine which team will represent the United States at December’s Olympic Qualification Event and potentially compete at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.

This high-stakes, five-day competition brings together the nation’s top men’s and women’s curling teams, narrowing the field to one champion. The winning team faces a challenging journey ahead as they aim to secure one of the final two qualification spots for next year’s Games in February.

Now 38 years old, and with Olympic appearances at Vancouver 2010 and Beijing 2022, Plys approaches the trials with deep experience and renewed motivation.

“The decisive showdown brings up an array of thoughts and feelings,” Plys said at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee summit in New York in late October, expressing clear enthusiasm for the challenge despite dealing with a recent injury.
