A powerful tornado struck Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, a town with 14,000 residents in Paraná state, southern Brazil, causing widespread destruction, killing at least six people, and injuring approximately 750.

The tornado, which occurred Friday evening, lasted only minutes but produced intense winds reaching up to 250 km/h (155 mph). It overturned vehicles and demolished numerous buildings throughout the town.

"I arrived home and found myself without a roof over my head," said 51-year-old Nereu Sabadini, who was working outside the town during the event. "I’m homeless and rebuilding will take some time."

Aerial images revealed most of the town was heavily damaged, with homes, schools, and businesses destroyed. Authorities estimate that 90% of the town suffered damage.

"It destroyed the town, houses, schools. What will become of us?" said Roselei Dalcandon, standing beside the rubble of her former shop.

The Paraná state government confirmed six fatalities due to the tornado. Emergency responders treated around 750 injured individuals, with nine in critical condition. One person remains missing as search operations continue.
