Arc Raiders Sells 1.6 Million Copies Despite Server Issues

Arc Raiders, a new multiplayer extraction shooter by Embark Studios, sold approximately 1.6 million copies within its first three days. The launch followed a peak player count of 354,836 just one day prior.

According to data from the Steam analytics site Gamalytic, these sales generated around US$61.1 million in revenue. However, this number only accounts for PC sales, with console sales expected to further increase total figures.

Launch Weekend Server Problems

Despite the strong start, the launch experienced significant server troubles as player numbers surpassed 300,000 concurrent users. Matchmaking and login issues arose, and at one point, servers were down for several hours before fixes were applied.

On X, Embark Studios acknowledged the issues, stating the servers on Sunday “had a wobble,” and humorously added, “Scrappy must’ve pecked a few wires loose.”

Compensation for Players

To thank players and apologize for the rough launch experience, Embark Studios awarded 500 Raider Tokens to everyone who logged in during the launch weekend.

“As a token of our thanks, we’re sending 500 Raider Tokens to all Raiders who logged in on Sunday (2 November),” the developers announced on X.

Summary

Arc Raiders overcame early technical difficulties to achieve impressive sales, with developer goodwill helping maintain player goodwill.
