The Division meets Fallout, Arc Raiders hits a record player count

Arc Raiders Hits Record Player Count with New Patch

Arc Raiders, described as a mix between The Division and Fallout, continues to grow in popularity, recently reaching an impressive peak of 354,879 concurrent players on Steam, according to SteamDB. This milestone is notable given that the game is not free to play.

Game Setting and Gameplay

Set in a post-apocalyptic Earth, players must contend with two main challenges: giant robots called ARCs and other players competing to scavenge lost technology. The game is created by Embark Studios, the developers behind The Finals, and has already surpassed that game's player records.

Recent Updates and Player Behavior

Released just over a week ago, Arc Raiders has received a Very Positive reception on Steam. Embark Studios remains proactive, having deployed a new patch (version 1.10) to address some gameplay issues. Notably, the update disables the tactic of building barricades at zip line exits, a move that was frustrating other players and causing in-game deaths.

The patch "blocks one of the game’s sneakier moves" involving obstructing zip line exits, improving gameplay fairness.

This issue, while problematic, was not as extreme as in games like Left 4 Dead, where zombies could block elevator doors with heavy equipment and end matches prematurely.
