On Thursday night, Patti Smith appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she reflected on her groundbreaking album Horses, discussed her new memoir Bread of Angels, and shared memories from her early life.
During the show, Smith performed the song Peaceable Kingdom from her 2004 album Trampin’, accompanied by longtime collaborator Tony Shanahan.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Horses, an album that, in 2022, was ranked by Consequence as the 17th greatest album of all time. To celebrate, Smith is launching a North American tour beginning November 10 in Seattle.
“Horses remains one of the most influential and fearless records ever made, transforming rock poetry into pure electricity.”
