Bryan Adams Sings Joe Cocker's Praises at Rock Hall Induction

In November 2025, Bryan Adams honored his musical hero, Joe Cocker, by inducting him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The ceremony celebrated Cocker’s lasting impact and powerful influence on generations of musicians.

A Tribute from a Fan and Friend

Adams began his heartfelt speech by recalling the first time he saw Cocker’s 1971 concert film Mad Dogs & Englishmen. The experience deeply impressed him and solidified his passion for music.

"How could anyone sing like that? And his stage presence was amazing to watch," Adams said. "Any ambitions I had of being a musician before I'd seen that film were doubled by the time I left that cinema. It was that inspiring."

Memorable Collaboration

Adams collaborated with Cocker on his final Top 40 hit, the 1989 single When the Night Comes, which the two co-wrote and recorded together. During his speech, Adams shared one of his favorite stories from those sessions.

"I once made the fatal mistake of trying to drink with Joe. He came in with a bottle of cola and a bottle of rum — famously known as the 'Joe cola.' After he sang a one-take vocal, Joe insisted we celebrate with a Joe cola. That was the end of the recording session."

A Legendary Class

This year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame also welcomed Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes into the performer category.
