Victoria Scores New High-Tech Sports Centre

Victoria Welcomes High-Tech Sports Centre

The Allan Labor Government supports a prominent UK sports technology company to open its Asia Pacific headquarters in Victoria. This move brings advanced technology to the AFLW and reinforces Victoria as Australia’s sporting capital.

New Centre of Excellence in Collingwood

Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs Danny Pearson visited Sportable's new headquarters and Centre of Excellence in Collingwood. The facility will generate up to 20 specialized jobs in software development, hardware engineering, and client delivery.

Innovative 'Smart Ball' Technology

Sportable’s 'Smart Ball' technology delivers real-time data on a ball’s movement during games. It enhances fan engagement and ensures every close scoring shot and line call is accurate.

The company introduced its Smart Rugby Ball in England, France, and Australia before collaborating with the AFL to create the Smart Sherrin. After years of development, the Smart Sherrin debuted in the 2024 NAB AFLW season.

"The Smart Sherrin has assisted with more than 2,000 score reviews in the 2025 season."

Global Headquarters for Visualisation Division

The Centre for Excellence now serves as the global head office for Sportable’s visualisation division. It leverages Victoria’s skilled workforce to develop officiating systems, high-performance assessments, and engaging fan content for sports worldwide.

Summary: Victoria attracts top sports tech talent as Sportable establishes a cutting-edge centre, advancing AFLW technology and boosting local high-tech job opportunities.
