After sweeping Ohio State on the road, No. 3 Penn State men's hockey team faces another ranked opponent this weekend at Michigan State. Before traveling to East Lansing, home to one of college hockey's most challenging road atmospheres, head coach Guy Gadowsky and forward Gavin McKenna spoke with the media Monday afternoon about the upcoming series between two top-five teams.
Penn State will be without forward Aiden Fink, a top-10 finalist for last season's Hobey Baker Award, who was injured during last Thursday’s game against Ohio State and missed the following game on Friday.
“He has an upper body injury,” Gadowsky said. “He will be out for the foreseeable future.”
While no exact return date is set, Gadowsky anticipates Fink will be back sometime around Christmas.
The team plans to continue with the same rotation used on Friday but remains ready to adjust as needed.
“It’s going to suck without him in the lineup, but we know guys are going to step up,” McKenna said. “And, you know, it’s a big role to fill in, so guys are going to be working hard for it, and I’m going to make sure I’m doing my job.”
Summary: Penn State's men's hockey team faces a tough road series against Michigan State without star forward Aiden Fink, banking on team effort and adaptability to maintain success.
