Wendy's has revealed plans to shut down approximately 300 locations across the United States in the near future. This follows an earlier announcement of 150 store closures set for late 2024.
As one of the top ten fast-food chains in New Jersey, Wendy's operates 145 restaurants within the state, including many in South Jersey. It remains unclear if any New Jersey stores are included in the upcoming closures, as specific locations affected have not been disclosed.
“When we look at the system today, we have some restaurants that do not elevate the brand and are a drag from a franchisee financial performance perspective,” said Ken Cook during the quarterly earnings call on November 7. “The goal is to address and fix those restaurants.”
Cook emphasized that the closures will begin later this year, but also expressed a desire to save some locations where possible.
Customers can find the nearest Wendy's restaurant by using the company's online locator tool on its website.
Summary: Wendy's plans to close around 300 stores nationwide, starting later this year, with no specific New Jersey locations confirmed yet.
