Lucy Liu stars in Rosemead, the debut feature from director Eric Lin, known for his work as a cinematographer. The film tells the story of a mother’s desperate efforts to protect her son and is set to open in December 2025.
Rosemead was officially selected for the Tribeca Film Festival and won awards at the Bentonville and Locarno Film Festivals. It will premiere in New York on December 5 and in Los Angeles on December 12, 2025, with a wider theatrical release planned.
Inspired by a harrowing true story, the film centers on a mother struggling with her son’s worsening behavior. As tensions rise within their Chinese American community, she faces difficult choices where the boundaries between love and survival become indistinct. Lawrence Shou plays the troubled teenager.
The cast also features Orion Lee, Jennifer Lim, Madison Hu, and James Chen.
