Wicked: For Good introduces two new original songs alongside tracks from the second act of the Broadway musical, deepening the exploration of Elphaba and Glinda’s stories.
The movie's second part follows Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) after her powerful rendition of “Defying Gravity,” where she and her best friend Glinda (Ariana Grande) discover that the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) is a fraud. The film expands on their journey beyond the Broadway narrative.
“Both witches are trying to find their way home,” said director Jon M. Chu in a September 2025 interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Both of these songs are about how to do that, and it’s questions that I’ve always wanted to hear from them in the stage show, but never got to. We get to take our time and explore those questions.”
The new songs were written by Stephen Schwartz, the composer of the original Broadway Wicked musical.
Fans had an early look at the new tunes during the Wicked: One Wonderful Night special on NBC, which aired ahead of the Wicked: For Good premiere in November 2025.
