Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams has unveiled the 20th and final track from her third solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The song, "Showbiz," features enigmatic lyrics that reflect tensions felt under the spotlight.
On November 7th, Williams officially released this concluding track after an unusual rollout. Seventeen songs were initially shared as singles on a free website, gradually building toward the full album's completion. With "Showbiz," the album now stands complete.
Despite speculation that this album might signal Paramore’s breakup, Williams has reassured fans the band is merely "on a break." In the recent single, she sings:
May never happen again / Stings like sweat on broken skin / And it’s never enough / Tastes like the whole ocean / Exit stage left / What might be the end / Showbiz, showbiz.
The meaning of what is "ending" in the song remains ambiguous.
In a previous release, the 19th single titled "Good Ol’ Days," Williams refers to herself as "Miss Paramore," implying the band she started at 15 may still have a future. She has also expressed feeling unfairly blamed for the band's breaks and tensions.
The new lyrics hint at her recent breakup with the Paramore guitarist, adding a personal layer to the album's themes.
Hayley Williams’ new single "Showbiz" closes her solo album with cryptic reflections on fame, personal challenges, and ambiguous ties to Paramore’s uncertain future.
