Gloria Estefan and Gisele Bündchen have joined forces to encourage the Miami community to donate food and assist the Lotus House Shelter, as its pantry shelves are running low. The initiative supports women and children in Overtown, highlighting the growing food insecurity in the area.
Community Appeal
“Our neighbors are hungry,” Bündchen said in a heartfelt appeal. “If you could please drop any non-perishable food that you have available at Lotus House Shelter, it would be greatly appreciated.”
“All of you know the necessity that there is, and the food is really necessary here. We need all the help we can get,” Estefan added.
Urgent Need at Lotus House
Earlier this week, Lotus House shared an alarming update on social media—its dry pantry was almost emptied after just three days of distribution. The shelter emphasized the urgency of community involvement in light of limited funding and the ongoing government shutdown that has affected SNAP benefits.
“With funding sources facing uncertainty, you can be the reason a family in need doesn’t go hungry,” the post read.
