Grant “Alexis Black” Freeman, an Ohio-born somatic healer and fitness coach, publicly came out as transgender in October 2024. She recently became the focus of public attention after a confrontation with musician Tish Hyman at the Beverly Hills branch of Gold’s Gym, now operating as EoS Fitness. The episode sparked widespread discussion regarding privacy, safety, and the inclusion of transgender individuals in public spaces.
According to reports, the dispute arose when Hyman accused a person she referred to as “a man in the women’s locker room.” The exchange, filmed by Brazilian journalist Paulo Francisco, shows a visibly upset Hyman raising her voice as several onlookers recorded the scene.
Hyman shouted about “grown men in the women’s locker room,” expressing frustration in front of other gym members.
Following the viral clip, Hyman posted on Instagram, stating that she and “multiple women” had previously filed written complaints about the same individual but claimed that gym management failed to act.
“The gym staff has done absolutely nothing,” she wrote, urging followers to boycott EoS Fitness and rejecting accusations of transphobia. “I treat people how I want to be treated... but this isn’t right.”
In response, the gym confirmed that Hyman’s membership had been terminated following the incident. A spokesperson explained that the Beverly Hills location had transitioned from a Gold’s Gym to an EoS Fitness franchise and that EoS was “actively reviewing the situation.”
The incident between Tish Hyman and Alexis Black at EoS Fitness highlights growing tensions over the inclusion and treatment of transgender individuals in shared public facilities.
