Livinia Nixon, a beloved weather presenter for 20 years on 9News Melbourne, announced she will be stepping down from her weather role, with her final broadcast scheduled for Tuesday, November 18.
She stated:
"It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family."
Joining the Nine Network in 1997 and taking on her weather role in 2004, Nixon explained her decision is motivated by her sons entering their senior school years.
She mentioned:
"After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them."
Although she will leave her nightly weather duties, Nixon will continue appearing on Nine’s travel programs Getaway and Postcards. She expressed gratitude for her career:
"Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me."
Her children’s reactions delighted her:
"When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’"
In summary, Livinia Nixon is stepping back from her weather presenting role after two decades to focus on her family, while continuing her work in travel programs with Nine.
