9News Melbourne will say farewell to one of its most beloved stars this month. Livinia Nixon, the city's longtime weather presenter, will sign off on November 18.

Longstanding Career at 9News Melbourne

Livinia Nixon joined the network in 1997 and has been the weather presenter since 2004. The 50-year-old announced her decision to leave on Friday, explaining her focus will now shift to supporting her sons as they enter senior schooling.

"After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role," Nixon said. "My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It's been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers' homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family."

Livinia expressed gratitude for the role that has shaped her life and career, acknowledging its importance but emphasizing her current priorities.

"Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me," she continued. "When I discussed it with our boys, they said, 'We're pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.'"
