Livinia Nixon takes bright long-range outlook with her on new chapter

Livinia Nixon Embarks on New Career Chapter

Livinia Nixon, the beloved weather presenter who began her television journey with Hey Hey, It’s Saturday, is concluding her 20-year tenure as Nine's long-time weather presenter this month.

“I’ve been on air for more of my life than I’ve not,” she said, with a laugh after the announcement. “I’m looking forward to a breather.”

At 50 years old, Nixon will continue her television career by appearing on Nine's travel shows Getaway and Postcards. The network owns these programs.

She chose to end her weeknight weather segment to devote more time to her family. Her youngest son, Ted, is about to start high school, joining his older brother Henry.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” Nixon shared.
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum’.”

Memorable On-Air Moments

One standout memory for Nixon was a live weather segment filmed at Healesville Sanctuary, where a green tree python wrapped around her neck, squeezed tightly, and tried to slither inside her jacket.

“I’d never read the weather as quickly in my life,” she recalled.

Summary

After two decades as a weather presenter, Livinia Nixon is shifting her focus to family and new television ventures, closing a significant chapter while embracing fresh opportunities.
