Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has been extradited from Dubai and is set to face trial in Miami on an attempted murder charge. The case stems from an incident earlier this year involving a shooting outside a boxing event.
Brown, who played most of his 12-year NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is accused of firing two shots at a man after an altercation at an amateur boxing event held in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood on May 16.
An arrest warrant issued in June states that Brown allegedly took “a black firearm from the right hip area” of a security official and shot at Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu.
Authorities confirmed that Brown, 37, who had not returned to Florida since the incident, was extradited from Dubai, where he was reportedly trying to avoid U.S. law enforcement.
He arrived in the United States via Newark, New Jersey, and was booked into Essex County Jail. Plans are in place to transfer him to South Florida, though the exact timing is unknown.
Video footage shared on social media captured Brown involved in a physical fight during the boxing event hosted by popular streamer and internet personality Adin Ross.
"A black firearm from the right hip area" was grabbed by Brown before he fired shots at the victim, reflecting the seriousness of the charge.
Author’s summary: Antonio Brown’s extradition from Dubai brings him back to face serious charges of attempted murder related to a high-profile shooting incident in Miami.
