Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Shohei Ohtani could start Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays. The team secured a 3-1 victory in Game 6 to force a decisive matchup.
Tyler Glasnow may also pitch on consecutive days, while Roberts made it clear that Yoshinobu Yamamoto will not take the mound.
“Everyone will be available,” Roberts said.
Toronto is expected to start three-time Cy Young Award winner and former Dodger Max Scherzer. The Dodgers, meanwhile, remain flexible with their pitching strategy involving Ohtani.
“I think right now, there’s no wrong answer,” Roberts explained. “He’s certainly going to be a part of the pitching plan. With Shohei it could be two innings, but it could be four innings. So I’m not sure where we’re going to slot him. We’re going to have to talk to him first on where he feels most comfortable.”
Roberts added that Ohtani could even appear as an opener or take the field as an outfielder, underscoring his two-way versatility.
Dave Roberts keeps the Dodgers’ Game 7 pitching strategy fluid, hinting Shohei Ohtani could start in a decisive World Series matchup against the Blue Jays.
