A group of neighbors from Brookmans Park, a village in Hertfordshire, England, shared a collective win of $1.3 million in the People's Postcode Lottery.
The residents’ postal code, AL9 6PT, was drawn as the winner of the Millionaire Street prize. Seven people from the neighborhood who participated in the lottery's monthly subscription shared the prize fund.
One of the winners, Samesh Kumari, a retired fashion business owner, received one of the largest shares — £249,999 ($328,000) — because he held three tickets. He purchased them in memory of his late mother, Chanchal Kumari.
"I think mum would be really proud," said Kumari. "I've only been playing for about four months. To have won so quickly is amazing. When I signed up, I was thinking about mum. This is extra special."
