The Sacramento Kings have waived second-year forward Isaac Jones to open a roster spot for Precious Achiuwa.
At 4:52 pm, the Kings confirmed Achiuwa's signing and Jones' release via a team press release.
At 9:17 am, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Kings agreed on a one-year, minimum-salary contract with free agent forward/center Precious Achiuwa. To accommodate Achiuwa, Sacramento planned to waive Isaac Jones.
NBA insider Jake Fischer first reported that the Kings were targeting Achiuwa, while Brett Siegel of Clutch Points noted that Jones would likely be the player waived if a roster move occurred.
The Kings have faced frontcourt challenges after losing starting power forward Keegan Murray to a thumb injury last month. As a result, Sacramentan teams have resorted to smaller lineups and relied heavily on rookies Nique Clifford and Dylan Cardwell early in the season.
"Sacramento is expected to waive second-year forward Isaac Jones in order to make room on the roster for Achiuwa," reported Shams Charania of ESPN.
With Murray sidelined, the Kings’ need for frontcourt depth made Achiuwa a strategic addition to their lineup.
