Aimee Lou Wood on Battling Body Dysmorphia During White Lotus Filming

Actress Aimee Lou Wood shared that she struggled with body dysmorphia while shooting bikini scenes as Chelsea in the third season of the Emmy-nominated series The White Lotus. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, the 31-year-old reflected on how she managed to separate herself from her character during filming.

“I shook myself out of it by thinking, ‘It’s not about whether Aimee wants to show her body or not – Chelsea does.’”

Wood explained that Chelsea’s optimistic and spiritual nature helped her embrace self-confidence on screen, even blurring the line between her own identity and that of her character.

“The line between me and her started to blur.”

The actress revealed that joining such a major American production thrust her into the spotlight, frequently taking her to Los Angeles for work and media events. While many view LA as glamorous, Wood described her experience very differently.

“I find LA emotionally bulimic, and I say that as an ex-bulimic. It is this super-sized adventure where everyone’s talking about you all the time and you have to talk about yourself all the time.”
