Hull City Council’s Leader, Councillor Mike Ross, expressed enthusiasm following the announcement that the Betfred World Club Challenge will be held in Hull.
After interest from Qatar, Australia, and other UK cities, we are delighted another world-class event is coming to Hull, with the prestigious Betfred World Club Challenge heading to the MKM Stadium.
The MKM Stadium, a 25,000-seat venue built in 2002 to attract international sporting events, will host the match in February 2026 between Hull’s treble-winning Robins and the NRL champions, the Brisbane Broncos.
Just like the recent Hull KR homecoming celebrations, when 30,000 people lined the streets to welcome the team home, I’m sure the city will be buzzing with civic pride and excitement to see world-class players and entertainment on our doorstep.
Councillor Ross highlighted the anticipation of welcoming rugby fans nationwide as well as the Broncos’ players, staff, and supporters arriving from Australia.
You’ll be given a very warm and friendly Hull welcome from the greatest rugby league city in the world.
Hull is preparing to showcase its passion and hospitality for this prestigious international rugby league event.
Author's summary: Hull eagerly prepares to welcome the Betfred World Club Challenge in 2026, promising a vibrant atmosphere and unforgettable rugby league experience for fans and players alike.
