Several Miss Universe contestants left a pre-pageant event following a tense confrontation involving Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, and pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil.
The incident began when Bosch declined Itsaragrisil's demand for all contestants to "promote the host country"—Thailand—on their social media platforms. Itsaragrisil warned, “You are in Thailand. You are in a game.”
The disagreement, broadcast live, intensified as Itsaragrisil reprimanded Bosch for refusing to join a photo shoot promoting Thailand. He pressed her to verbally confirm her cooperation, saying, “I heard you’re not going to support everything about Thailand.”
When Bosch tried to explain, Itsaragrisil accused her of siding with the Miss Mexico directors instead of his Miss Universe team in Thailand and called her a “dummy.”
“Because I have a voice,” Bosch responded when asked why she stayed standing after being told to sit down. “You’re not respecting me as a woman.”
Following this, contestants protested loudly as Itsaragrisil summoned security to remove Bosch from the room.
As she exited, Bosch said to Itsaragrisil, “As women, you need to show respect for us.”
The incident highlights tensions between contestants and organizers, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and personal agency in international pageants.
