The Miami Heat and star player Bam Adebayo are in a tense waiting period following his injury. After the Heat’s 122-112 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, the team packed up at Ball Arena to return to Miami. The loss left Miami at a 4-4 season record, but the bigger concern was Adebayo’s health.
Adebayo, the Heat’s three-time All-Star center and team captain, exited the game early in the first quarter due to a left foot injury and did not return. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra addressed the uncertainty before leaving Denver:
“We don’t know right now. It’s his left foot, so we’ll find out more [Thursday].”
Spoelstra was speaking before returning to Miami, where he is also dealing with the aftermath of a fire that destroyed his Coral Gables home.
Adebayo is scheduled for an MRI on Thursday in Miami to assess the injury’s severity. Speaking at Ball Arena, he remained cautiously optimistic:
“We’ll figure it out. Get more tests [Thursday] and then see how it goes.”
However, his participation in the upcoming back-to-back games at Kaseya Center is doubtful. The Heat begins a four-game homestand with a key in-season tournament game against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday at 8 p.m.
The Heat faces uncertainty as Bam Adebayo prepares for an MRI to determine the severity of his left foot injury, putting his availability for upcoming home games in question.
